Policy Matters Op-ed Contest

The Policy Matters Op-ed contest aims to provide a platform for passionate high school students to share their opinions on significant policy issues. Students will analyze the political interworkings of nations to better understand the present world. With a unique voice, style, and compelling evidence, participants will have a chance to be featured on the PM website and win a $200 prize.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school student or undergraduate college student (or foreign equivalent)
  • Essays must be the original work of the student. Essays are checked for AI assistance and are disqualified if AI is detected at any point in the essay or bibliography.
  • Minimum of 2 sources. Essays must include a bibliography page.
  • Must be between 600 and 1200 words, not including the bibliography page.
  • Must be in MLA or APA format.
  • Must be submitted before the final deadline: September 1st, 11:59 PM
  • Essays should not include identifying information about the author.
  • The grant money must be used for independent policy, civics, or community initiative purposes.
  • The winning essay will be published on the Policy Matters website.
